Sitting in Stillness

a/n: hey guys, since i got awesome feedback from my last poem, i decided to post another! This one is also from my creative writing class last semester.

She sits in stillness
Awaiting his arrival
Arms crossed and feet flat on the ground
The boy whispers something unimportant
She ignores
Sitting in stillness
She’s a strong woman
Beaten, battered, and bruised
She looks at their wedding photo across the table
Amused
She finally hears him at the door
She then slides to the floor
And breaks
